The Servant Quarters is Open for 2023

We are extremely excited to announce that the Servants Quarters is now open for guests!

It has taken us nearly 2 years to get to this point, its fair to say that some of the delays were because we have been filming a TV Show. Shockingly when we started work in the Servants Quarters we thought that it didn’t need that much work… When will we learn that it always need a lot more work than what we think?! Ha

We had to deal with fire damage, rot, structural problems… and that was even before we could start concentrating on the spaces…

This cottage holds a special place in our hearts though, here is where we found the ‘Edith’ Letter. A letter from 1873 that was hidden under the floorboard and never reached the destination, but to us it made it so real… the history of the place, the people that lived in it… the stories that the Estate could tell…

With a new lease of energy we got working on the spaces. We used wallpaper for the first time, we panelled, we plastered, we reopened blocked fireplaces, we made fireplace surrounds, fixed floors, added new flooring… we created a bathroom, two bedrooms, even a hidden closet and the most amazing spaces of all, a multifunctional living area within the original linen room. A living space where you have everything that you need within cupboards.

We created a kitchen inside some cupboards that can be hidden away when not used! - Who wants to look at a messy kitchen right? - We have recently started to see more cupboard kitchens… I don’t want to say we invented it… (but we never saw it before we had a go… just saying haha)

It has been a journey for sure, and we feel that our finishes are more elevated, I mean if we were not getting better as the years go by there would be something wrong, don’t you agree?

We have added a little surprise within the old linen room (now living space)… Have you ever played find Wally (or Waldo for our US Friends?) Well when we had the original wallpaper replicated by the very talented Sand & Sushi, we added our little pet Parrot we used to have somewhere within the wallpaper, so when people stay they can try to find him.

Ricky was our parrot, we had him for few years and he was one more in the family, we noticed that he was getting depressed as we were not able to spend as many hours with him. It was such a hard decision for us to make and so sad but we reluctantly decided that he would be happier living with more parrots and he is living his best life now. Although we miss him, we know it was the best decision that we could make for him. To remember him forever he is imprinted in the room where we first moved all together when we first got the keys for the Estate.

This cottage will be for 2 people only, unfortunately we are not able to accept pets… Ricky in the wallpaper is enough! Even though its a two bedroom accommodation we felt that it would be a much more enjoyable experience limiting it to two people.

With this long journey ITS OFFICIAL we are open for bookings in the ever so charming Servants Quarters which has been our home for the past 2 years. A great test to see how it all worked and we will really miss living in this space as its so beautifully cosy. Please check the available dates HERE

We have also released new available dates for the Caretakers Cottage which forever will be Borja’s Favourite Cottage as it was the first one that we ever restored on the Estate and we lived there for just over a year. Please check the available dates for 2023 HERE

Two accommodations completed… well three as we have to live somewhere.. we are getting ever closer to the Main Manor House Restoration!
